Classroom connectors

Thank you for your interest in being a classroom connector for the 2024-2025 school year!  Please communicate with your classroom teacher to find ways to help. PTSA Board Members (some of us are also classroom connectors or have been a similar role) are here to help as well.

Already a confirmed classroom connector with your teacher? We created a page that all classroom connectors can access to help each other. Click here to access.

If you get an error message, it means that you are not listed as a classroom connector in our system. Just send an email to website@alcottptsa.org and let us know. We will add you to the group.

Responsibilities

volunteer

    • Collect money from parent/guardians for your classroom fund.  Please see our FAQ and tips document regarding classroom funds.
    • Plan three classroom parties (Harvest, Friendship/Valentine, End of Year).
    • Host/organize your grade level’s luncheon for Alcott staff. Note: new this year, you will need to put money into the PTSA grade level lunch fund at the beginning of the year.   Please see the FAQs for more information.
    • Assist PTSA with Staff Appreciation Week for your teacher.
    • Purchase class teacher gifts.

Classroom Funds

Money collected should be used for classroom parties, teacher appreciation, and grade level hosted lunches.

Class parties include: Harvest Party (October), Friendship Party (February), and End of Year Party (June). Please check in with teacher regarding these parties for additional details on timing and what the party will include.  Each teacher has the ability to create these parties for the classroom.  We suggest planning at least one activity, one-two food items, some small decorations if needed. Often the teacher has requests, ideas, or traditions that they do every year.  They also may have some supplies to help reduce costs!

Teacher gifts are often given for birthdays, holidays, teacher appreciation and/or end of year.  Use the Teacher Favorites List for help and share with families.

We highly suggest stating a needed amount per child in your class to avoid being short on funds or needing to request funds at a later date.  Remind your parents, that if funds are not available, these parties and gifts cannot happen. Suggested amount is $40 per student.

Work with your grade level classroom connectors to set up your fund amount.

***Remember that not all families may be able to donate to the classroom fund. ***

Ideally, you can plan for about $75-100 for each party and then some for gifts (birthday, teacher appreciation).  Any extra classroom funds can be given to the teacher in the form of a gift card at the end of the year.

In the past, the classroom funds collected in the fall have not been used for hosting the staff lunch. New this year, we are asking for your donation to your grade level lunch upfront to ensure money is available.  So please budget and plan accordingly.

Grade Level Hosted Luncheons for Staff

For questions regarding grade level luncheon contact president@alcottptsa.org.

      • Luncheon months are listed below. As we get closer to the month, PTSA will provide a specific date for lunch after approval from the office.
      • Food needs to be ready by 11 am.
      • Staff eats between 11am – 2pm.
      • Remember to provide food and drinks.  Dessert is also very much appreciated.
      • Food trucks can be very fun, however during the day it is difficult to get staff served in a timely manner.  Please try to avoid food trucks if possible.  Reach out to president@alcottptsa.org with additional questions.
