Every year, Alcott PTSA recognizes outstanding volunteers and teachers at Alcott Elementary. Each spring, parents and students nominate a Golden Acorn, Splash Award, Outstanding Educator, and Outstanding Advocate.
Golden Acorn
The Alcott PTSA Golden Acorn is awarded to people who have given exemplary volunteer service to children and youth in our community. The Golden Acorn is given for continued and dedicated service. Nominees for this award include volunteers that meet and exceed the work and mission of the PTSA. Award recipients receive the Golden Acorn Award Pin and they will be honored at a district wide banquet. The PTSA also contributes in the recipient’s name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Foundation. These funds provide scholarships for selected high school students entering post-secondary education.
Splash Award
The Alcott PTSA Splash Award recognizes and parent, staff, or Alcott Community member who made a significant difference in our children's lives, is a good role model for students and has provided service beyond the call of duty during the school year.
Outstanding Educator
The Alcott PTSA Outstanding Educator Award is presented to an individual who has exhibited continued and dedicated contributions and efforts to enhance the educational outcomes of our students. This is our "Educator of the Year" award (an educator is not limited to a teacher).
This award may also be given by a local PTA or council to honor outstanding educators who have made significant contributions in their community. An educator may be defined as a teacher, assistant, specialist, support staff, administrator or community members.
Outstanding Advocate
The Alcott PTSA Outstanding Advocate Award is presented to recognize and honor individuals for continued and dedicated service to ALL children and a demonstrated commitment to helping create strong policies to the health, welfare, safety, and education of children and youth.
