Winter enrichment registration is just around the corner, and we’re excited to give you a sneak peek at the fun classes your kids can join. From creative arts to STEM adventures, there’s something for every child to explore, learn, and enjoy.

Winter Enrichment Classes
Snapology: Creature Creator Robotics (Grades K-2)Tuesdays 4-5pm | 8 Sessions | $180 Does your child love animals and building things? In Snapology’s Creature Creator Robotics class, students bring animal-inspired robots to life—from buzzing insects to playful dolphins and powerful gorillas. As they build, code, and experiment, they’ll explore the fascinating intersection of nature and technology. This one-of-a-kind program blends creativity, engineering, and teamwork—making it perfect for curious minds who love to learn through play.
Skool of Code: Machines and Robots with Micro (Grades 3-5)Tuesdays 4-5pm | 8 Sessions | $235 Students explore the world of robotics and machines using Micro:bit with MakeCode. They’ll create playful animations, add fun sound effects, work with sensors and controls, building projects like step counters, smart thermometers, and door alarms, making coding interactive and exciting.
CTB Basketball: Lil' Ballers (Grades K-2)Thursdays 4-5pm | 8 Sessions | $200 CTB Basketball classes are a fun and fast-paced mix of skills instruction and developmentally-oriented drills and games. They are perfect for kids who want to learn both the fundamentals and more advanced skills of the sport in a nurturing environment while having a great time with their friends. Classes are designed to provide teachable moments for essential life skills like teamwork, leadership, communication, and sportsmanship.
Crave4art (Grades 2-5)Thursdays 4-5:30pm | 8 Sessions | $225 Step-by-step acrylic painting for beginners, everyone succeeds! Creative mixed-media may be included with some options like; collage, stencils, sponge, palette knife, tape art, jewels etc. Pre-traced canvases + guided instruction. Age-appropriate themes: animals, nature, seasonal, abstract etc. Topics are often chosen a week before so we can adapt to students’ interests and suggestions, keeping projects engaging and exciting for them.

This year's Council Reflections competition saw 287 entries from 39 PTAs. Each entry was evaluated by independent judges, and these selections earned the highest rankings and will advance to the Washington State PTA round of competition (Note: Students winning Honorable Mention awards will not proceed to the State competition). Congratulations to all participants!

Registration Open for 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee
We are excited to share that Alcott Elementary is officially registered for the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee! All students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 are invited to participate.

🐝 Spelling Bee competition format & timeline
1. Registration
Open for all students in Grades K and above
Deadline: January 23
Fee: $15 per student

2. Word List Distribution
To ensure fairness while allowing adequate preparation time:
The official grade-level word lists will be shared on January 12th with all registered students.
Students registering on or after January 12th will receive the official word list within 24 hours of registration.
3. Timelines
School-Level Competition: February
Regional/District-Level Competition: March 29th, 2026
National Scripps Spelling Bee: Held in late May to early June
Please note that exact dates for regional and national competitions are finalized by Scripps and our regional partner and will be shared once confirmed.
Kindergarten students will participate in grade-level rounds only, while students in Grades 1 and above may advance to School/Regional/National-level rounds
We encourage early registration to ensure your child receives the official word list promptly and has sufficient preparation time.
