Math Club

Goal of Alcott's Math Club is to nurture children’s interest in math by applying creative problem solving to questions from math competitions like Math Is Cool and Math Kangaroo. Many students in Math Club go on to participate in math competitions in our state. Students typically participate in Math is Cool, Math Kangaroo, Knights of Pi Math Tournament, and a few others.

Alcott math club is open to all students from K-5. For Math enthusiasts from 3-5th grade who are interested in exploring math beyond what is taught in school, this is the place for you! This club is run by Tesla High School students every Thursday, where competition-based math problems are discussed. This is a club where logic, critical thinking and math skills all go hand in hand.

In the Math Club meetups, we will cover several concepts and strategies. Some of the major topics include Probability, Geometry, Basic Algebra, Coordinate Plane, Venn Diagram, Rate, Decimals and Fractions, LCD and GCD.

What will it be for the younger kids? For kids from K-2nd grade, we are planning to start math circle where kids engage in the depths and intricacies of mathematical thinking, propagate the culture of doing mathematics, and create knowledge. In short, a place where kids will explore math in a fun way.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

We need a PTSA member volunteer to be present during every Teams session. Please note that only district approved parent volunteers can attend the sessions. If you are able to volunteer, please indicate so during the registration process.
